MyWEST - Mining Results

Mined data database

WebExtractionResults-DBgene.mdb: a MS-Access 2000 database containing all the aggregated annotations mined from the UniGene, LocusLink, Swiss-Prot, SOURCE, and GeneCards web interfaced databanks for the considered differentially expressed genes.

On this database we implemented two sets of queries in Structured Query Language (SQL) and a graphic user interface to easily execute them.

• The first set includes general purpose queries, which allow simple data mining of the annotations in the database just by specifying keywords to look for and/or type of annotations among which to search (e.g. "*transcription*" and "Term", respectively, for mining transcription related genes according to the Gene Ontology controlled terminology of functional categories).
  
  
• The second set comprises complex articulated queries specifically designed to provide comprehensive integrated views on the annotations mined with MyWEST from UniGene, LocusLink, Swiss-Prot, SOURCE, and GeneCards web interfaced databanks for the considered differentially expressed clones and aggregated in the database.
  Results of some of the implemented views were stored in tables of
  
  • gene symbols and titles;
  • reference genomic, mRNA, and protein sequence IDs;
  • identification codes and URLs in several web interfaced databanks;
  • chromosomal and cytogenetic locations;
  • ortholog genes;
  • normalized gene expressions;
  • Gene Ontology classifications;
  • functions and reference functional bibliography;
  • protein nane and sequence information;
  • protein similarities in different organisms;
  • protein product structure, expression, function information, and keywords;
  • phenotypes, diseases, disorders and mutations.

MySQL\WebExtractionResults-GeneData\: a MySQL database containing all the aggregated annotations mined from the UniGene, LocusLink, Swiss-Prot, SOURCE, and GeneCards web interfaced databanks for the considered differentially expressed genes.

On this database we implemented a set of queries in Structured Query Language (SQL) and we saved each of them in a text file with a self explaining name.

• This set of queries comprises complex articulated queries specifically designed to provide comprehensive integrated views on the annotations mined with MyWEST from UniGene, LocusLink, Swiss-Prot, SOURCE, and GeneCards web interfaced databanks for the considered differentially expressed clones and aggregated in the database.
